Rafael Cabrera Díaz was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1949. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. During this period, he learned the wielding and casting techniques employed in his sculptures. He finished advanced studies at the School of Plastic Arts of Puerto Rico.
Through his works sculptor Cabrera Díaz shows us a creative process that transforms reality into a personal imagery of stylized and expressive feminine figures full of rhythmic motion. Cabrera Díaz displays his freethinking sensitivity towards the essence of women leading others to their own search about the meaning of life.
